Program: A one month conservation initiative involving volunteers and interns with hands on conservation initiatives, field experience, and training on the only free-roaming big five reserve in the Fynbos biome. Volunteers assist in conservation projects through wildlife observation, data collection, wildlife management and monitoring, alien plant eradication and other reserve needs. Volunteers make a difference in leading conservation efforts with wild mega-fauna and gain the skills and experience necessary to work in the conservation and wildlife research industry.

Program may include: During the program volunteers will monitor and study populations of wild white rhinos and elephants through observational research and take part in dangerous game training. Projects are conducted to observe pre-natal behaviour of white rhinos and the carrying capacity of free roaming elephants in this unique biome. Volunteers also take part in Dangerous Game Training to learn how to safely conduct work in areas where potentially dangerous animals are present. Volunteers will be well versed in wildlife approach methods, reading warning signs, survival skills, bush navigation, and other skills.

Animals: The reserve has your typical African mega-fauna, such as lions, elephants, buffalo, hippo, rhino, and giraffe as well as numerous smaller ungulates such as antelope, wildebeest, and zebra. Being in the fynbos biome the reserve is also privy to species that only occur in this area such as bushbuck, grey rheboks, cape mountain zebra, etc.
